The thematic focus will be the practical implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES) at the EU’s external borders.

The objective of the ICBB2020 is to provide an online platform for dialogue to decision-makers, project managers and other practitioners responsible for the implementation of the EES by:

  • Offering access to discussions on the EES in the wider context of interoperability, and the international perspectives on the European entry and exit system;
  • Demonstrating existing EES solutions through a Virtual Industry Exhibition on EES equipment, with online presentations and discussions, and an industry portal for digital consultation of industry solutions; and
  • Providing practical support to Member States through a series of online sessions aimed at discussing challenges of a practical and operational nature that relate to processes and operational performance.

Virtual Industry Exhibition on EES equipment: to meet national border management authorities’ need for innovative technologies in the context of the EES, a substantial part of the conference will be dedicated to a Virtual Industry Exhibition on EES equipment. Throughout the whole conference, selected industry representatives will be given the opportunity to showcase their new and existing EES-compliant technical solutions in a series of online presentations and discussions. eu-LISA Industry Roundtable 2020

The 2020 edition of eu-LISA Industry Roundtable will take place fully online, and it will take place on 3-5 November 2020. Through three single afternoon sessions, the event will address some of the challenges that the new information architecture will face in order to reach both political objectives and operational benefits, in particular the quality of the data. High quality for both alphanumerical and biometric data has to be ensured at the moment of insertion/acquisition, also in case of not optimal environmental conditions. Additional work on the development, endorsement and implementation of common standards is necessary throughout the data management process: from data acquisition to access to information (including mobile devices).

The three sessions will cover:

  1. Biometric data acquisition: ensuring data quality at the point of capture;
  2. Ensuring consistent data quality in large-scale IT systems; and
  3. Access to data: interoperability architecture and access to information on the ground.
